(MONTAGUE TWP, ON) � The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Smith Falls resident with impaired driving.
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, Lanark County OPP officers responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch on Roger Stevens Drive in Montague Township. Officers located the vehicle just before 8:00 p.m.
After speaking with the male, the driver was arrested and transported to the Smith Falls Police Detachment in for testing.
As a result of the investigation, James SWEET, 46-years-old, has been charged with:
� Operation while impaired � alcohol
� Operation while impaired � blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
� Careless Driving
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, March 23, 2026.
The individual�s driver�s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver�s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
