A Guelph man faces drug and weapons charges after officers seized more than $50,000 in drugs � as well as cash and a conducted energy weapon � Thursday afternoon.
Approximately 4:40 p.m. officers were in the area of Speedvale Avenue East and Gladstone Avenue when they spotted a man who has been the subject of an ongoing trafficking investigation. He was arrested a short time later while walking to a vehicle.
A search incident to arrest revealed quantities of suspected crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and opioid tablets with a total estimated value in excess of $50,000. Officers also located $5,600 in cash and a conducted energy weapon.
A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing proceeds of crime over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a weapon and driving while prohibited. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
