The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Breach of the Peace � CK26026680
Date: April 16, 2026, Time: 20:16 hrs., Location: Marlborough Street North, Blenheim
On April 16, 2026, at approximately 20:16 hrs., Chatham‑Kent Police Service officers responded to a call for service in the parking lot of a restaurant on Marlborough Street North in Blenheim.
Investigation revealed that a male accused had been repeatedly entering and exiting the location throughout the day, causing ongoing disturbances. The behaviour escalated later in the evening, prompting officers to intervene.
As a result of the investigation, a 35‑year‑old male from Blenheim was arrested for the following:
Breach of the Peace
He was transported to police headquarters and was later released.
Fail to Comply � CK26026778
Date: April 16, 2026, Time: 16:15 hrs., Location: King Street West, Chatham
On April 16, 2026, at approximately 16:15 hrs., Chatham‑Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of an unwanted person at a business located on King Street West in Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers located a 39‑year‑old male from Chatham on the property.
Further investigation revealed that the individual was bound by a release order and a probation order, both of which included conditions prohibiting attendance at the location.
As a result, the individual was found to be in breach of these court orders and was arrested and charged with the following:
� Count 1: Fail to Comply with Release Order
� Count 2: Fail to Comply with Probation
The accused was transported to the Chatham‑Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.
Theft & Possession � CK26026710
Date: April 16, 2026, Time: 23:54 hrs., Location: Queen Street, Chatham
On April 16, 2026, at approximately 23:54 hrs., Chatham‑Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of a trespassed individual shoplifting at a retail store on Queen Street in Chatham.
Upon arrival, police located and identified the suspect, who had been observed stealing merchandise.
As a result of the investigation, the accused, a 49‑year‑old female from Chatham, was arrested and charged with the following:
� Theft Under $5,000
� Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Further investigation revealed the accused was also wanted on a first‑instance warrant for theft‑related offences. As a result, she was additionally charged with the following:
� Mischief Under $5,000
� Assault with a Weapon
� Theft Under $5,000
� Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
The accused was transported to the Chatham‑Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was released with a scheduled court date of June 8, 2026.
