Cornwall, ON � A 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 21, 2026, and charged with the following:
Fraud over $5,000
Obtaining by false pretence
Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
Laundering proceeds of crime
On Oct. 18, 2025, a Cornwall Police Service officer was dispatched to a Second Street East business in relation to a fraud complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged the woman used deceit and false representations to defraud a City of Cornwall business of money, knowingly obtained funds through fraudulent means, possessed money believed to be the proceeds of crime, and transferred those funds in an effort to conceal or convert them, knowing they were derived from a criminal offence. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the woman�s arrest. On April 21, 2026, members of the CPS executed a search warrant, and she was located. The woman was taken into custody by a member of the Criminal Investigation Division, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FRAUD, DRAWING DOCUMENT WITHOUT AUTHORITY
Cornwall, ON � A 25-year-old man from Oakville, ON, was arrested on April 21, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Sept. 9, 2025, the man defrauded a business in the City of Cornwall through EFT payments and created a fraudulent banking document in the business� name. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of fraud over $5,000 and drawing document without authority. On April 21, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on June 2, 2026.
