On Thursday, April 24, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a business on Paris Road following reports of a female driver believed to be under the influence of alcohol.

Upon arrival, officers located the driver and initiated an investigation. As a result, the female was placed under arrest and transported to the Brantford Police Service for further testing.

Subsequent breath samples revealed the accused had a blood alcohol concentration of approximately 230 mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood, which is nearly three times the legal limit. The accused, a 60 year-old female from Burlington, Ontario, has been charged with Operation While Impaired (Blood Alcohol Concentration).

As a result of this incident, the drivers license has been automatically suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle has been impounded for 7 days, as per Ontarios administrative sanctions for impaired driving.

The Brantford Police Service maintains a zero-tolerance approach to impaired driving. Choosing to operate a vehicle while impaired places not only the driver at risk, but also passengers, other motorists, and the community as a whole. Drivers are reminded that safe alternatives are always available. If you plan on consuming alcohol, please arrange for a sober ride home, whether through a designated driver, taxi, or rideshare service.

The Brantford Police Service would like to thank the vigilant community members who promptly contacted police to report their observations. Public cooperation plays a critical role in keeping our roads safe, and we continue to rely on tips from the community to identify and remove impaired drivers. Anyone who observes suspected impaired driving is encouraged to contact police immediately.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050. Additionally, information can be provided anonymously to Brantford Crime Stoppers by calling 519-750-8477 or 1-800-222-8477 or by submitting a web tip online at: https://www.crimestoppersbb.com/submit-a-tip/
